Class 6 Decimals – Answer Key

  1. Answer: (D) 1/2

0.5 means 5 tenths, which is 5/10. Divide top and bottom by 5 to get 1/2.

  2. Answer: (A) 5.75

    Write 3.4 as 3.40 and add: 3.40 + 2.35 = 5.75.

  3. Answer: (C) Hundredths

After the point the digits are 0 (tenths), 7 (hundredths) and 3 (thousandths). So 7 is in the hundredths place.

  4. Answer: (D) 4.7

    Line up the points: 7.5 − 2.8. Borrowing from the units gives 15 tenths − 8 tenths = 7 tenths and 6 − 2 = 4, so 4.7.

  5. Answer: (B) 0.8

Write them with two places: 0.80, 0.75, 0.08, 0.70. The largest is 0.80, which is 0.8.

  6. Answer: (C) 0.25

    The denominator 100 means hundredths, so 25/100 = 0.25.

  7. Answer: (A) 3.6

Multiply 12 × 3 = 36. Since 1.2 has one decimal place, the answer has one decimal place: 3.6.

  8. Answer: (D) ₹58.25

    Add 45.50 + 12.75. Paise: 50 + 75 = 125 = 1 rupee and 25 paise. Rupees: 45 + 12 + 1 = 58. Total ₹58.25.

  9. Answer: (C) 6.4

A zero at the end of the decimal part does not change the value, so 6.40 = 6.4.

  10. Answer: (B) 3.25 m

    100 cm = 1 m, so 25 cm = 0.25 m. Then 3 m + 0.25 m = 3.25 m.
